Coconino Community College’s Fire Science Program provides training to individuals interested in pursuing a career in either structural or wildland firefighting.
We offer a certificate in Wildfire Suppression to prepare students for entry-level wildland fire fighting. We offer an Intermediate, Advanced Fire Science Certificate and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Fire Science to prepare students for entry-level structural firefighting.Our Intermediate/Advanced Fire Science Certificates and AAS Fire Science Degree are based on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and recognized by Fire and Emergency Services Higher Learning Education (FESHE). How do I register for classes?
To begin registering for classes, all students are encouraged to reach out to advising (whether that be through our advising department or through the department faculty contact). Once you are ready to begin, you can follow the steps listed on the Registration & Enrollment Services "Apply Now" website.
How much does classes cost?
Our tuition varies based on whether or not a student in an in-county (meaning lives in Coconino County), in-state resident (meaning lives in Arizona) and what course the student wants to take. All of these tuition rates can be seen on the Registration & Enrollment Services "Tuition Pricing" page.
Are there programs that can help with the cost of tuition, books, testing, etc?
Yes. Students may apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). They may also apply for various types of scholarships through CCC or other entities.

Our fire science program offers a variety of courses that can be completed to finish a degree or certificate. Additionally these courses could be used to learn new skills or complete recertification.
