The Comet Promise Program helps eligible students pay for their education by covering the cost of tuition when federal grants fall short. This program is intended to remove economic barriers and to provide a pathway for Coconino Community College students to complete their certificate and/or degree.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be a resident of Coconino County AND;
- Must have graduated from a Coconino County high school or equivalent (e.g., Home School, GED) AND;
- Must enroll in six or more credits as a first-time certificate or degree-seeking student, AND;
- Must be awarded any amount of Federal Pell Grant (determined by the FAFSA form) OR;
- Be a qualifying non-citizen student (undocumented or Dreamer status) OR:
- Have parents who are unable to sign the FAFSA form (must submit additional documentation required by the CCC Financial Aid Office); AND,
- Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined by the CCC Financial Aid Office while attending CCC.
How to Apply
- Apply for admission to CCC
- Complete the FAFSA form or
- If you are a student who is a qualified non-citizen student (undocumented and Dreamer status), complete the Comet Promise form
- If your parents are unable to sign the FAFSA, complete the Comet Promise form
- Contact an Academic Advisor (recommended)
- Register for at least six credit hours
After Applying
- Turn in required documents to the CCC Financial Aid Office
- Click on Financial Aid > Eligibility > Financial Aid Year 2023-2024
- Follow the instructions to complete your Unsatisfied Requirements
- You will be awarded all Federal Financial Aid, including Pell Grants, that you qualify for
- You will be awarded a Comet Promise scholarship for any tuition that the Pell Grant does not cover
Do I need to complete a FAFSA form?
All students, with the exception of undocumented and Dreamer status students, must complete both the FAFSA and their Financial Aid file to determine eligibility.
What if my parents are unable to sign the FAFSA?
If your parents are unable to sign the FAFSA, please complete the Comet Promise form to determine your eligibility.

Can I get money for books and other costs?
The Comet Promise program will only pay CCC tuition that is not paid for by the Pell Grant. It does not pay for books, housing, transportation or any other charges that are not tuition. We recommend that you complete the FAFSA form and/or seek scholarships.
